Picking a ratio that reads correctly

A ratio close to 1:1 looks like a slightly uneven circle rather than an intentional oval — it's usually better to either commit to a circle or stretch the ratio further, somewhere around 1.4:1 to 1.6:1 for most stadium and plaza builds. Longer ratios, like 2:1 and beyond, suit running tracks and elongated halls where the length is the point of the build.

Build order for a clean curve

  • Decide the final width and height before gathering materials — resizing mid-build breaks symmetry fast on ovals more than on circles.
  • Mark the four extreme points first: leftmost, rightmost, topmost, and bottommost blocks.
  • Build one quarter of the curve between two of those points, then mirror it across both axes instead of freehanding all four quarters separately.
  • Finish the full outline on the ground before adding height or walls, and check it from above.

When to use an oval instead of a circle

If your build's footprint is naturally wider than it is tall — a stadium, a swimming pool, a hallway that opens into a round room — an oval keeps the proportions realistic in a way a fixed-diameter circle can't.
